Two to four days. It depends upon where you are in California (how close you are to a large mail sorting and shipping facility) and what time your letter is mailed (when it reaches the post office).

The fastest delivery time that I have experienced has been: a letter taken to an actual post office, morning-to-midday, in San Francisco = arrives on Kauai in 2 days (no extra post paid!). I have also had a letter take longer (about four days) to arrive on Kauai -- and that seemed to be due to not taking it to an official post office, or dropping the letter off too late in the day, or a weekend/holiday between sending and receiving the letter.

Once in a while, the postal service takes an inordinate amount of time to deliver my letters... just so you know (the postal service isn't an exact science).

California is QUICK in the states. I was an avid post card sender to friends and family while I traveled for 4 years around the country and CA is the fastest in the states...on a boat or plane to our islands?...I would give it a week for letter... and package, you can regulate that with the postage rate you pay. Of course you can over nite it...it may cost you, but if time is of the essence...what's a couple extra bucks?

Mail from the East Coast seems to get to California (SF Bay Area) in about four days, so I'd say the same for Hawaii.
