Clinique Butter Shine is good. I don't know what your coloring is but there are some pinks and nudes that are great! MAC Viva Glam V is a favorite of mine. It's a neutral pink that works on almost all skin tones and has just a bit of shimmer.
If you're really worried about smearing, you can try the long-wearing lipsticks like Max Factor Lipfinity and Cover Girl Outlast. I don't know that you'd like them though, because they are hard to remove (even with a good remover) and they feel like you have something on your lips.
I would recommend you try a stain. BeneFit's BeneTint is a good one, but Vincent Longo's Lip & Cheek Gel Stain is even better. These are liquids that you brush on and let dry and then you pretty much forget they're there. You can top them with lip balm or gloss for a shiny look or to change the color a little. These don't smear at all. BeneTint doesn't wear as well or as evenly as Vincent Longo's, which is why I recommend that one.

Well, I was going to say lipgloss, but I guess not now! hehe, anyways, I think that if you're uncomfortable wearing it, then don't feal like you have to wear it. You shouldn't feal compelled to do everything that other people say. On the other hand, you said that you're tired of lipgloss, so maybe you should try a little lipstick. If you have problems deciding what colors to wear and how much, get a facial by a Mary Kay consultant, or go to a department store and have them do a look on you and tell them that you're especially wondering about lipsticks. They'll help you with that. If you think that lipstick is too thick, then try permanent lip coloring. You're lips will be like that forever, but you won't have to worry about fading or smearing, or thickness. I personally apply a little bit of lipstick and then lipgloss on top, but here's some tips for lipstick. Color lips in fully with lipliner, first. Then put on a lip outlining pencil like they sell with Mary Kay. Then apply the lipstick! I hope that this helps you!

try a pink-y/tan color, as close to the natural color of your lips as possible. Also, wear lipliner with it. That should keep it on your lips! I absolutely love any lipstick from maybelline or covergirl - you just can't go wrong. I would suggest the 'nude' or 'pink' collection from Almay. It has a coordinating lipstick, lipliner, and lipgloss (to wear over the lipstick). You can pick it up at walmart, or other major retailers. try using a lip stick that is close to your natural lip color..it will still make a difference, then put lip gloss over the lip stick..it will look good without you standing out too much.

Why don't you try using a pinkish/brownish colour?
It will look natural but still gives a nice shade to your lips.
You can also use a lip liner.
Don't worry your lipstick won't smear all over your face :)
Go on try something different.

i rarely wear makeup so i always feel selfconscious when i do. i hate how fake it looks (even when it's supposedly *neutral and natural*) so when occasions arise that light makeup would be appropriate for, i generally choose a kind of coralish colour lipstick. it enhances my own lip colour without looking uncomfortably fake. each skin tone will have a colour that looks best so don't be afraid to try a few out at the makeup counter before you buy.
