This was possibly on etv or the discovery channel, and was about the mountain range under the Atlantic Ocean being caused by waters from under the earth's crust bursting open.

The only mountain range under the Atlantic Ocean is the mid-oceanic ridge, which is found under all the oceans and is the largest mountain range in the world. Magma (molten rock) continually upwells from the mantle and creates new oceanic crust. I do not know the name of the program or the network, but I am sure that this is the process they were describing.
