Judging by the children of the people I serve at work every day, I am inclined to believe that most are not. There are days when I wonder if the adults are even house trained. My daughter has been taught since birth to behave in public and especially how to behave in restaurants. I have even gone so far as to have her ask the server for a broom to clean up the mess she has made. That was a one time lesson. You would be amazed at how people act. Often you also find that the worst ones are the ones who are completely unaware of appropriate tipping methods. These are the ones who feel that two dollars or ten percent, whichever is less, is a decent tip. Very disappointing after you have had to tolerate their lack of manners and then clean up after them ----and always with a smile and a hearty "y'all come back now!"
It just upsets me. It really does. I was taught as a small child by my grandmother. She pointed to some children who were not behaving and told me that if I ever acted anything like that, she would kill me. I believed her.

Some are, its according to the rules the parents make. Like blessing food is rare anymore, People all eat at different times or in front of tv. table manners are very important. So it doesn't
mean if you don't know which fork or knike to use like that scene in the movie Pretty Woman" Julia Roberts displays a great role in ettiqutte, but we all should sit together and make table manners a little more important than most do anymore, It's nice to have some traditions kept is a good thing

Parents don't teach children anything anymore they let it all up to TV and teachers. Kids now days have no manners at anytime; they are rude, and spoiled. The biggest problem is parents are afraid to discipline their children and the kids are taught to scream child abuse if they are so much as looked at wrong. Parents now days should need to take classes on parenting and not by there freaks who think that if you let your child run wild they will turn into nice little adults.

Well no but you can't blame the children completely...what about the parents, some parents can't teach children table manners because they them self do not know good table manners. Just remember that children are a refelction of there parents

Yes, children taught table manners. They're just not taught very well, certainly not as well as us. What's the matter with kids today. We were so perfect in every way!

When do parents get the chance to teach table manners? Kids are at school for 1 or 2 meals ( breakfast, lunch) and 1-2 snacks 5 days a week. Then you have jobs, hobbies, church, family visits, and kids activities. Fast Food is exactly what it says.

I have three children, and yes I try my best to teach them table manners. They know what is acceptable and what isn't. It all depends on how the parents raise their kids. I know a few parents who don't bother. Some say since they are single parents it's a lot harder to get their kids to listen. Personally I think that is the time to teach anything to your kids. They can grow up and say "my mom taught me well, and she was an only parent."

I have always believed that they should have a no children section at restraunnts. When I go out I dont want to spend $50 on dinner and listen to someones screaming kid or have a dumazz parents kids running around the tables. Noone has any respect anymore.

They are hardly even get disciplined let alone have table manners. Somehow this country thinks hitting a child is wrong. Rediculous - see Proverbs 22:15 & 23:13 A youngster's heart is filled with foolishness, but discipline will drive it away. Don't fail to correct your children. They won't die if you spank them. NLT

I waitress in a "fine dining" restaurant, I've seen it all. Its almost half & half, but leaning more towards no manners. However there are a few that actually sit quietly and color or whatever. I always try to be as accomodating as possible, for the comfort of the OTHER patrons, and I do try to get them out as quickly as possible. I think its insane to pay $50 for a meal & listen to other pp's children, I also think its nuts to pay $50 to ENTERTAIN YOUR OWN CHILD while trying to eat. GET IT TO GO!!!
