Studio band formed by Alan Parsons, producer. He was also known as the engineer on Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon." First album was "Tales of Mystery and Imagination," based on the work of Edgar Allan Poe, probably their best album. Their second best album was "I, Robot." After that in my opinion they headed downhill fast. They put out a CD a year or so ago that is just empty New Age music. Stick with their first two albums and you'll do fine. When they were good, they were very good.

Yeah, they were a mid-70's progressive rock band that managed to stick around long enough to become an 80's adult-pop band. Alan Parsons (the guy, not the band) was a staff assistant engineer at EMI Abby Road studios in the early 70's, who parlayed the fact that he worked on Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" into a record deal. First album, "Tales of Mystery & Imagination" (1976) was a group of songs based on poems & short stories by Edgar Allan Poe, had an elaborate fine-arts sleeve, and lost their record company a lot of money. Follow-up album, "I, Robot" (1978), was much more accessible, featured hit single "Breakdown", and made a lot of money for their record company. This taste of success led to personnel changes, many drugs, bitter fights with management and record company, and changes in direction toward a more commercial approach. Later hits included "Games People Play" and "Eye in the Sky". (Footnote: Mentioned by Dr. Evil in "Austin Powers 2")

That is not a question. People will know their 2 biggest hits - Eye in the Sky and the Chicago Bulls Theme (when they had Jordan and Pippin)
