I quite agree with you regarding people's qualifications for answering a lot of these questions. I answer questions that appear to be of the serious nature and not written by some teeny booper that thinks they are being funny or trying to show off. Have answered a couple of questions that I viewed as extremely serious regarding young people wanting to take their lives. Gave them advice that I thought would be beneficial to them ie: seeking help from social service agencies and/or medical help. So although we are not qualified therapist if we can help just one person then I think it is all worth it.

Maybe no one is qualified by a state organization to be a therapist, but many of us are qualified by life experiences to help others.
I am sure some people take the answers seriously and some don't. It would depend on the question and the quality of the answers. From the responses I get in my email, I think most of the people here are sincere in their questions and answers.

Experience is the best teacher. Some of the people here are very educated and have life"s experiences for their knowledge. There is no liscense required for advise. I disagree with you that no one here is qualified as a therapist--I have seen some and their answer was "on the mark"

Why do you think that a therapist is any better? I mean most of the people who are certified should find professional help for themselves and not give they own opinions. Do you read your horoscope seriously or fortune cookies? Sometimes it just for fun and getting some insights from a different source. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar!! Oops that just slipped out sorry

I am a licensed psychotherapist. There are a few of us on here.
But I get what you are saying. There are MANY people asking very serious questions about illnesses, medications, etc., and many many people giving random, or sarcastic answers which could be damaging. It's ALWAYS best to consult with your therapist or psychiatrist about these things.

Well, you make a point, but I almost think that this site could be of more assistance than a therapist. A therapist is a single person who usually has one personality. On this site, there are so many opinions of ppl nationwide, therefore providing more backgrounds/point of views.

Sometimes, letting go seems like the easiest thing to do. But think about this: you've invested so much of your time and energy into another person; you've made a solemn promise; and you still know there's love, even if it's hiding underneath the surface. This website will show you how to save a marriage and avoid divorce, even if you're the only one trying https://tr.im/CjR6l

A lot of questions do not need a therapist to answer, some question are just general common sense. and some of them make no sense. (smile)

for me it's just fun even though i don't expect for people to listen to my advice. although no one here may not be a therapist, there are some good answers that people give.

Life experience should count for something! I wouldn't base my every decision on what people recommend here, but I do enjoy asking and answering questions. It's interesting to see what other people think - what your peers think.
Just have fun with it!!
