spotting can be normal during pregnancy or during anytime. It occurs more often sometimes, such as during pregnancy or missing birth control pills. The brown substance is likely to be just blood. it is normal to spot at anytime. It is probably due to hormonal changes since you are pregnant. It should be ok to wait until your next doctor's appointment. i'm assuming that since you are 35 wks, you should be having doctor's appts pretty frequently. If you are really concerned, you can call your doctor. They should be able to tell you if you need to come in to a examination or not.

Brown substances means dried blood. Maybe when you had sex last , it caused bleeding inside and you are having a discharge now. It is probably nothing big, but if it worries you then ask your doctor

call your doctor. though spotting during pregnancy is common, i would still call your doctor to make sure everything is okay.
