WHY IS MY GOLDFISH IS TURNING SILVER?

With age a goldfish may start showing silver scales among the gold, until, just like humans go grey, it becomes silver all over. When goldfish are very young they are dark for camouflage, then sometime up to the age of three they turn gold and red. In age they will tend to get silver. Some, like humans, go silver early. But if a relatively young fish starts showing a paler body underneath in patches, it is likely to be caused by injury or parasites. The other possibility is patches of white or grey fungus disease. In this case you would need to find an experienced fishkeeper or a vet to take a look at it. if its still has its normal scales and no stuff coming oof it then its just changing colour!!good luck

I am not sure if it is too do with aging. I have a gold fish that is 15 years old and is still has a bright red shine to it. I do have a gold fish that has also turned silver - I dont know why it has happened. I think its just natural in some fish.

The fish that has turned silver is only 4 years old.

this is due to a change in the natural pigment of the fish
Goldfish start black then gradually go through a natural change to gold some then change to the silver or white you are seeing

I have a pond with fish showing all the changes some are only 2 years old

it's not BAD but obviously unwanted you could try feeding a colour enhancer with it's food

it will be fine

you have to give more details, it's probably not bad. Goldfish can be gold, ornge, silver, black, grey, calico...a lot of colors. Make shure you know what your doing...to many goldfish die within a year. They live well past 10 years too!!! Never buy goldfish bowls. Each goldfish needs 20 gallons of water believe it or not. They like live plants, and cool water. So, you dont need a heater, but a 20gallon tank and a 30-40 gallon filter with a bubbler. (goldfish are dirty and need oversized filters). They produce lots of ammonia too! So do weekly water changes. Feed it freeze dried shrimp, bloodworms, flake/pellet goldfish food, etc. Please take good care of your goldfish, so it can live a healthy happy life!

Some stores sell "goldfish" that are not actually real goldfish. They are dyed to look like goldfish. Just like jelly bean parrot fish. They are dyed all kinds of colors. As the fish get older and larger they lose their colors and become white or silver.

Slime Disease : excess mucus covering any part of the body. the mucus results in the skin appearing a light grey colour. if mucus is covereing the gills the fish will exhibit rapid breathing. you can get a Slime Control treatment from reputable pet stores or specilist fish places.
I have goldfish too n got some info from my pet store - of course i dont know if this is what it is for sure u shud probably double check before you buy any treatment but i hope this is helpful!

It's natural! Both blue and bronze are two of the most unstable Goldfish colors, because they're actually fry-coloration; not really "meant" for adult fish. Black is also a very unstable color, and most "Black Moors" turn out to be Telescope-eyes once their black starts to fade to orange or white. Orange and white are the most stable Goldfish colors, though some orange Goldfish will turn silvery white as they get old.
Your Goldfish are going through a natural color-change, which indicates that your care for them is excellent and they are very healthy!

Well . . . I don't know what kind of conditions you keep it in, but I have heard that keeping a goldfish in the dark will cause it to lose all coloration.

IWell, they are called goldfish so it's not good. Will it be ok? Probably but silver's not worth as much as gold.
