I'm trying to find a story that I read several years ago and I can't remember the title or author. It's a short story, maybe 30 or so pages long - not a novel. It's for young adults - maybe a 4th or 5th grade reading level. My memory of it is very fuzzy... it's about a boy who lives with his parents in a house in the woods. At night, they hear a noise outside. Then I think they see big empty boots on the front doorstep? This happens three times. I think maybe the kid puts on the boots, and the boots take him somewhere. And maybe there's a giant in the story? But I could be confusing two stories. Do these details ring any bells? I remember that the story is narrated by the boy, looking back at the memory as an adult. Sorry that my recollection is so vague...

I've been seeing your question up here for a few days now. Sorry that no one is helping. I am not familiar with this story. My advice would be to go to your local library and talk to a librarian. Even if they don't know the story, they may be able to help you figure out where to look. Also, if you read this for school it may be a common part of the curriculum so you might try asking a teacher at a local school. Good luck!
