Here is a good way to decide:
1. A woman is trapped in a burning house. Do you:
a. Rescue her without regard of your own personal safety
b. Not rescue her for fear of being burned yourself
2. You witness a car with a woman and children veer
off of a levee road into the water. Do you:
a. Pull over and dive in to the water to rescue them
b. Call 911, not jumping in for fear of drowning in the current

honestly im a bystander because i would be too busy freaking out but i wish i could be the hero.

I am more hero than bystander
I would be scared to do either of them but I would do it if need be.
I couldn't stand by and just watch.

in lifeguarding they teach that you can't save someone if you drown so I think that's always something we have to keep in mind.
I'd like to say I'd save the people in both cases but maybe each case would be something to assess individually. . .
