Hello!! I was just reading a feminist magazine, "*****", and there's something I couldn't understand. Well, there were A LOT of things I couldn't understand, but I'm only asking about this one right now.
What does it mean to "reclaim sexuality?" It was in the article called "tree so horny" (hehee). It talked about a porn site "channels its massive earning potential toward worthy antideforestation efforts". And apparently one of the creators said "sex does not have to be a trade object. Let's reclaim sexuality!"
The writing is a little clumsy, I think, you can barely tell when something is being criticized or supported, so I couldn't draw my own conclussions from the context.
Please help me!

Contact the magazine and ask them. B I T C H is a magazine for very serious, extreme feminists and I don't think you are one of them, sorry.

It ties in with an old saying, "You can't see the forest for the trees" If you wish to see new growth in a forest, then you must first cut down some of the existing trees in order for the sunlight to reach the forest floor & assist in the growth of the new trees & plants. If you do not thin out the forest, then you risk losing it completely due to forest fires & then ALL the usable wood is destroyed. If you reclaim it first by thinning, you can have a clearer view of what is available at a glance, rather than having to go through the dense dark forest. I don't get the correlation, but it seems that ALL industries have a hidden agenda these days. It sounds like the porn industry is just looking for another tax loophole & a way to attempt to legitimize their "trade" in another lesser known industry regarding anti-deforestation. Isn't that a part of the old pyramid scheme?

It's just something someone made up. Advice type articles are always trying to say catch phrases like that. I doubt if the author even knows what that means. Although it does sound like it is trying to say let's go back to making sex be about sex instead of about what you can get for having sex with someone. This is just a theory, I could be totally off-base.

"channels it's....earning potential toward....anti-deforestation efforts" First, do we have a moral porn site here? Second, how does one channel potential toward anti-deforestation? Potential does not buy many groceries. It sounds like what ever you're reading is a bunch of BS. Go back to something decent.

the only thing i can surmise is that sex is now big business and with big business comes consciousness toward a worthy cause.

sex is meant to be SEX, with all it's pleasures. part of it's appeal is the secretive nature. so i guess making it SO mainstream diminishes some of it's appeal.

it would be equivalent your local porn shop sponsoring a church event.

sex is best when it's at it's dirtiest, otherwise there'd be no "dirty little secrets"

Maybe he is talking about people using it between themselves for some kind of leverage within a relationship.

Sex in porn will always be a commodity because it's entertainment on a certain level.

In this day and age, a lot of pro ecology and environmentalists want to preserve our trees
and preserve the balance of nature. They are calling for concerted efforts to devote their time into this awareness. How this translate into sex is beyond me .

I think what he meant by that is that the porn site needs to keep sex sexual and other matters exclusive.

It means get on top and ride it like you own it. It doesn't matter who you are or where your from...every woman needs it, and if a man can't do it fro them then another woman will have to do.

Sex has always been a commodity. That is not going to change just because the proceeds go to deforestation projects.
