you should use lava rocks (scoria) in a tank, and it is going to do a touch good in words of harbouring cycle micro organism and algae. even with the undeniable fact that this is not any the position close to almost as good as stay rock because it dosn't have the microscopic crevices and holes that coral 'rock' does. It also would not contain the stay micro organism and algae that "stay" rock does. Thats the 'stay' portion of the call. i'd sugest you purchase a minimum of a few actual stay rock and use your scoria as a base rock below it. It wont be almost as good as all stay rock, so be carefull now to not overstock your tank. in case you cant have the funds for stay rocks, you cant have the funds for a lot of fish besides. You wont have as a lot organic and organic filtering as you could, even with the undeniable fact that it will be sufficient to get the tank operating with a mild stocking. The Scoria will %. up some cycle micro organism, and be perfecty ok as 'Base' rock in there. you could allways purchase some extra stay rock contained in the destiny and flow issues round. replacing one or 2 products at a time wont dissatisfied the tanks stability a lot. Then get your stay rock outfitted up over the years formerly you purchase too many fish. Ian

Lava is a rock that has been cooled very quickly. The rock name could be Obsidian, Ryolite, pumice, pillow lava and many more. In your grocery list you can find pumice in a soap called lava rock (i think that is what it is called).

I see your confusion. LavER is a dried seaweed. It is used when making laver bread, popular in Wales.
I've found a recipe for you http://www.red4.co.uk/recipes.htm
