isn't islam a REAL, MAJOR RELIGION already??? for one thing, not all muslims are bad, and it's only the radicals who resort to terror to get their aims. gee, it's obvious by your question that you don't even think of islam as a bonafide religion. shame on you.

No 'thoughts' are given moral labels in western society. Any muslim want to learn why following the plagiarized ranting of a slaver merchant/child rapist can stunt millions of people worldwide into mental chimpanzees? Pick up a periodic table of the elements - oops there's the end of your religion. Don’t feel bad, a little science wipes out all the religions. Welcome to a secular society – we’re not Hindus, Christians or Jews and our society is based on the consent of the governed people. If you read this carefully you will only be about 600 years behind the rest of us. I don’t know of anyone who thinks Islam is a dishonest religion, just most people here consider all religions archaic. Be glad you have parity, it may not hold if people start doing research. The second part of western society is based on scientific thought. You can say all you want but actions speak louder than words. Most people in the west are educated and familiar with some history. Come to think of it, as far as religions go, it does seem kind of wrong to destroy the main cities, cathedrals, temples of the greeks, Hagia Sophia, the Armenians, the pyramids, the sphinx, the library at Alexandria and untold Hindu shrines just because they belonged to the people you were enslaving and killing and attested to the superiority of other civilizations (or just the existence). Maybe people wouldn’t say ‘dishonest’ if that wasn’t still happening. Or how about the slave route. Can you explain to me why god would think he/she needed to tell a prophet how much a slave is worth? Your god trades slaves? That’s one hell of a deity.

Who are you talking about? Who's "he"?

Anyway, to answer your question... I'm not Islamic but I respect it as a religion. However some people look at the news and what Islamic fundamentalist terrorists are doing and apply it to the religion is a whole, when it's just a fanatical group doing the suicide bombings and all that.

It's the same thing with Christianity. Some Christian fundamentalists (like Jerry Falwell) say stupid things and it makes some people think all Christians are like that, when it doesn't. I'm a Christian and I don't like Falwell representing me!

You should tell this person that Islam is a religion, and unfortunately some people pervert it. I hope this person's eyes are opened to that fact but sometimes people are ignorant and refuse to see things differently.

your own question is so biased its amazing... hey dumbass.. ISLAM IS A REAL RELIGION... whether one believes it or not, doesnt negate the fact that its a real religion.. you should know by now that no amount of convincing is going to be able to change those that are ignorant.
