Eddie Van Halen is a better guitarist than Joe Perry, but Aerosmith is incredible live and it's amazing how long they've lasted. I think I'm gonna go with Aerosmith. I've listened to them longer, but Eddie is one of my favorite guitarists. The Eruption solo just absolutely blows me away everytime I hear it.

I like Van Halen better
I just prefer their sound
David Lee Roth's vocals
Eddie VanHalen's playing
but Aerosmith is good too

Love Aerosmith. All my life, Van Halen has made me cringe. They are the definition of "Butt Rock".

I'll guess I'll lean (just a little) to areosmith for it's iconic 'dream on' and mere length of service .....

Van Halen ROCKS (or, at least they did back in the day). Aerosmith gets the nod, however, for staying good for a much longer period of time.
