There are all different kinds of gay bars that cater for different tastes in music etc just as there are straight ones so i don't really get the question.

The largest G&L club here has three different music styles in on really big building. There is country, techno, and rock. It is great. Well, It is great for this area. Everyone mingles and has a good time. Throw in a couple of straight couples and you have all the cookies in one jar. There are a couple of lesbian only bars here, but the become tiresome after a bit.

It depends on the area. Where I went to college, there were three gay bars. One was a biker bar. One was the dance club. One was a regular bar. All the gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transfolk mixed together all the time. I know plenty of lesbians who love club music, and plenty of gay men who would prefer something more light and mellow.
This has lead me to believe that this "seperate bars" thing is just crap. If the bar has the music you like (I love fast paced club remixes and HATE Ani DiFrano or Le Tigre), you should go. We should stop trying to force the lesbians to like Teegan and Sara and stick them in this little bar over here, and stop trying to force the gay men to listen to the latest Madonna remix in this dance club over here. There is no reason why ALL gay people can't mingle and hang out together. Seperate bars based on the flawed idea of seperate music tastes that based on gender and sexual orientation are mostly crap and just further the divisions in our community.
Come on people, party together. The group that plays together, stays together.

I heard that most gay men don't like lesbians! I'm not sure if there is any truth in this.
There are gay bars and lesbian bars - some places have themed nights.
They do hang out in the same place and sometimes go out in gangs or couples!
Gay clubs are a lot of fun if you go with an open mind.

again, another 'phobe who's stereotyping. while there are bars that might be predominantly gay or lesbian, a lot of them are frequented by both. everyone, including straight people, have different tastes in music, but we like a lot of the same music...just like straight people do. and quite a few of the bars I go to, straight people come in as well. thankfully, not all straight people are pea-brained homophobes.

I doubt if gay bars ban lesbians. additionally some gay adult males have been regularly occurring to ask their lesbian to boot as quickly friends out for a drink. As for her assembly ultimate friends there are gay and lesbian places in some vast cities (i think) that would have some gay and lesbian appropriate social, non secular, academic appropriate issues. in keeping with risk she will meet somebody that way.

you know them str8 men and women..do they have separate bars according to their gender? lol.
bless you my love, go to a mixed gay bar and see what fun is. i think you'll find it's not that different from ordinary bars.
we all laugh cry bleed and smile.
in my home city, we have a bar that is gay friendly yet also hosts/boasts a large clientele of what i believe the yanks call rednecks. i was in there today and thought to myself: swotty, this bar may be a bit of a dive but it's the best bar in the town simply because it harmoniously juxtaposes two cultures that would ordinarily clash in any other bar in this rough city, and that is some achievement. the guys in brokeback mountain would have loved this bar, and so do i.
everybody is beautiful in their own way.
peace people xxx

Here in central Illinois (and it's fairly redneck here) gays, lesbians, and even some heterosexuals have all been going to our local gay bar since 1973.

If the bars are out in the boonies, probably not. Only if the bars accept all kinds of people. Have one in Minnesota that does.

Yes, there are bars out there for the whole community.
As for the taste in style and music, please don't stereotype.
