they have a calender where you put in the first day of your last period and how long you cycle is and it calculates the best day to concieve. And it does it every month. So you only have to enter it in 1 time. Doing that helped me get pregnant!

There are lots of methods for determining your ovulation each cycle... one is charting - it really only confirms, after the fact, that you have ovulated. This is especially good for people with irregular cycles, so that they can see patterns in their cycles from month to month. check out www.fertilityfriend.com for more on charting.
another is using a fertility monitor, which I do. They are expensive, but after you have been trying to conceive for a while and nothing else has worked, they are a good option. (about $200)
a third option is to "read" your cervical mucous in your underwear throughout your cycle. The best times to have intercourse are when your cervical mucous is fertile, or like the consistency of raw egg whites.
And finally, you could use ovulation predictor kits (even from the dollar store). They, however, do not work for everyone.
Whatever you decide to do, I personally would relax the first few months and just have fun trying...after trying for 13 cycles myself, it definitely becomes a chore & using some of these methods may make it MORE of a chore, earlier than it has to! Good luck!

Timing it all depends on your cycle length. The typical every 28 day cycle will ovulate on day 14. Your first day of your period is cycle day one. So count 14 days from day 1 of your period. BUT you want to have sex the days before you ovulate so the sperm is waiting for ovulation. If your cycle is longer than 28 days then add a day to the 14 for every day its longer. But within those two weeks (say day 10 to day 23), you should be having sex every other day ( the day in between allows for the building of strong sperm)
Or you could go out and buy ovulation predictor kits. You would start them around day 10 and keep taking them until you see a positive. That will tell you a 12-24 hour window of when you are about to ovulate. But again, sex before you ovulate is very important..

I recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. She teaches the Fertility Awareness Method which involves charting your cycles and your body's fertility signs to maximize your chances of conceiving. The Day 14 thing is a myth that holds true for only a small percentage of women; by learning to use FAM you can determine when you ovulate as opposed to the mythical "average woman."

To conceive you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

I believe you are most fertile 10 days after your period. So from about 7 days after your period, I would have lots of sex until about 14 days after your period. Actually, you only need to have sex every 72 hours during that week. Sperm live and swim for 3 days inside you.
Also, try standing on your head afterwards.
