If you are making your own fish tank, I'd advise contacting a local glass company that installs windows in cars and homes. They'd be able to advise you on the thickness and glass support needed depending on the total gallons of water you are planning for your aquarium.

Making a fish tank water tight is a difficult task and well worth the investment of a ready made aquarium. Regular window or sheet pane glass is not sturdy enough for this project.

Petco is having some kinda sale http://petco.shoplocal.com/petco/default.aspx?action=browsepagesingle&storeid=2490194&rapid=306697&pagenumber=8&promotioncode=Petco-060820

I always get mine used from the pennysaver or news paper. <--- I'm sure you'll find one at a reasonal price, I really wouldn't advise making one.
