Why don't people who move to Florida from other states realize that we have a culture and heritage too, and that this state wasn't created for them to come here and clog our beaches and farm/ranchland? They move here and are ignorant, and don't learn anything about the people who came before them.

bulabate, No, my parents have worked hard their entire life using the labor of their OWN hands to provide for their family. Thanks for being cynical and assuming you know how ranchers operate.

I have been here for 40+ years. My grandmother was born in Florida The Florida I grew up with has been plowed under! Every time you turn around another 100,000 acres is "developed" :( We have had water restrictions for at least 40 years why do they keep building?? And if you are new here Please don't burn anything!! For now we are in the middle of the woods but town keeps creeping closer! Don't even get me started on the beaches! How would they feel if we went to their home town and walked down main street in a thong!! I better stop. Best question all week!

You can't go on fighting the civil war; as if there was anything civil about it! Knowing now what the real reasons for the bloody war was all about back then, could have kept a lot of yankees home. We are all citizens of this country and are allowed to travel anywhere to live. Whatever happened to southern hospitality ? Up north most southerners are welcome, most came for better paying jobs a while back, and got opportunity to make a higher standard of living. There really are great advantage to live in both places, and should not be dictated by any government or group. Now with so many rules and regs both places are losing their attraction to anyone except the border jumpers.

My parents were from Mississippi but I was born and grew up in Miami. I know what you mean. The Florida I love has nothing to do with Latin culture, tourist traps or glamor. I love the real Florida.
