on the toilet to pee (which to me is weird) and he takes over a few minutes to pee, WHY?
This is new and strange, he always used to stand!

Nothing to be freaked out about. For some men, when they pee standing, the steam of pee isn't a tight stream, but a stream with a little spray to it. In the process, they end up pissing on the toilet seat often enough that they decide to squat. Sometimes this happens after sex when some of the sperm dries near the tip and interferes with the stream. And for others, if they have a narrow urethra, they have problems peeing a tight stream.
So, he might not want to pee on the toilet seat and is trying to spare you from having to sit on a seat on which he has pissed. Be thankful.

Maybe his prostate is enlarged or something, you said it takes him longer and an enlarged prostate can push on things and make it harder to pee. Have you asked him why he's sitting down? He might want to see a Dr. if he's having a problem, and he should do it before it gets worse.

You don't say anything about his age or general health. It could be he has decreased flow due to a physical problem and that sitting makes him less prone to dribble. I suggest he get a full check up with a physician, including a prostate exam.
