If you put something with a scent into a bag. Then sealed the bag so it was air tight, how are you able to smell it. it relates to atoms

The atoms of the substance permead the air. The are picked up by the olfactory nerve in the nose to be interpreted as a scent. The atoms pass through the bag by diffusion, they go from the area of high concentration (inside the bag) to an area of lower concentration (outside of the bag). Kinda like the osmosis experiment with eggs in jars of vinegar and water that I'm sure you've done in class or seen the pictures of.

well the atoms/molecules would diffuse out of the bag and into the air so u can smell when u open the bag
