Most people feel the 82 game season is too long. I personally find myself losing interest just after Xmas and getting back into it as the playoff races are wrapping up. By the half-way mark most of the playoff spots have been decided. I would like to see it reduced to around 60 games and have the cup awarded by the end of April.

You are completly crazy. I would like to have more games. Like let the players have 1 month off for the summer.

I really agree the NHL season is waaaay to long, and I'm Canadian and love hockey. It should start in the fall - October is perfect, and end in April or early May at the latest. I'd say a 60 game season is plenty of games. Then three rounds best of 7, with the top 4 in each conference in the playoffs - seeded by records only (not division winners). I don't like 5 game series because they are too likely for a team to be lucky. But 8 teams out of the league is enough for the playoffs. All that being said, it will never happen, the owners make too much money on the very long season and playoffs that are really really too long.

50-60 games, but over a similar period of time as the current 82-game season - playing 2-3 times a week instead of 3-4 times a week. So many players get injured in the last couple of months and playoffs because of fatigue. Let these guys give their bodies a break. I'm sure that'd be worth more to most of them in the long run than money.

I would like to see the season stay the same amount of games but change the way they do the playoffs. They do 2 games, travel, 2 games, go back, 1 game, travel 1 game, travel 1 game . Then because of this travel they have to have several days between games. If they would do 2, 3, 2 it would save several days.

I'd prefer a 50 game regular season and a shorter playoff format. Winner decided by the end of March at the latest.

I think the season is fine, but the 1st 2 playoff series should be 5 games instead....I would like to see the schedule go back to the old way, where you played all the teams in the league more

I wouldnt minde a shorter season, between 60-70. I think the playoffs should be tweaked a little as well, i just dont have any suggestions on how.
Funny thing is im more excited in the off season when the trades and free agent signings happen, especially in march as well, generally when the trade deadline is. Im kinda wierd, i know.

I love a long season, but a shorter season with league contraction would be great! Less teams = Less games. But on the business side, I don't think the NHLPA or the owners will go for it. Less games = Less revenue.

82 games is good enough. I'm Canadian and the more games there are the better. After the playoffs, there's not much else for me to watch on tv.
