By children I really mean teenagers.

D: I understand how ya feel. I also have a 4 year old son and one time I was at the store and these teenagers were swearing soo much and I asked them the same thing you did to those kids. They just laughed and I got angry. I told them off though. Maybe that was a little immature but it also makes me wonder what the next generation is going to be like. Everyone absolutely lacks respect.

I try to watch it. The really bad stuff but it is hard. It's hard for me to keep up with all this new music. Teens maybe not....Mine are like 10 and 11 and I watch it. I hope by the time they are teens they know right from wrong...Which there are so many bad things on TV music may be my least worry. If I found it I would fuss....
lol
I don't know I just try and keep on going when it comes to this kid thing.

I brought my 13 year old Eminen and 50 cent CDs for Christmas. I had looked up the lyrics first, so knew what to expect. I see no great harm in them, and an average 13 year old isn't going to hear any words they don't already know. To be honest, they are the musical equivalent of a "Tom & Jerry" cartoon.

Mind you, he squirmed when I suggested he let his mum listen, bless him!!

I was the typical open minded person about things until I had my own kid. He is 2. I was at the park yesterday when a group of teenage boys walked by and were swaring very loudly the F word and Mother F. I was upset and I said "Hey guys Please watch your language" They did not say sorry but they shut their mouths and kept walking. I think that you obviously cannot avoid the fact that your kids are going to hear swearing but I think that they should be informed about its use and that they need to be responsible about it. (respectful) Some slight swearing in music.... okay. But that nasty sex crap HELL NO!!!!!

Absolutely not...nothing with vulgar words...if it says hell or something like that...like "give em hell" like in the Paul McCartney and wings James Bond song. But anything that talks about violence, vulgar language Vulgar sex, or anything about hate I won't let them listen to it. Now of course when they aren't at home, there isn't much I can do.

NOPE, esp rap.
My son will never know what rap music is, we do listen to alot of metal though.
Hey at least metal musicians actually have talent and dont rely on a synthezizer.

Yes, however it must be "good" music--quality music. I don't qualify or disqualify what I encourage my kids to listen to based on prurient contents.
