soda has large amounts of carbonation which causes the gases to build up in your stomach and the easiest way to release them is to burp. soda also has a high sodium content which causes water retention.

water on the other hand has no carbonation and no sodium, and it cleanses the body. your body can't use all of the water at one time, so you end up going to bathroom to get rid of the excess.

are you serious? you dont know.
ok, the main ingredient in Coke is carbonated water. the carbon is constantly released from the soda once its opened. that gas builds up in your stomach and releases itself causing you to burp.
your body expends extra water, hence, if you drink water your body doesn't need, you pee.
a good way to tell if your drinking enough water is the color of you pee. it should be a light yellow. if its dark you need water. if its clear, you have plenty.

With the coke, I think it's because we swallow so much air and also because of the carbonation. With water it flushes the kidneys better.
