I recently applied to a major university and I applied to begin in the Fall of 2007. I recently found out that my application has been scheduled for review and may already be under review by an Admissions Officer. How long does it normally take to receive an answer of acceptance or denial at this stage? They initially said it could be up to 12 weeks, but that's only near deadlines and the fact that my status has been reflected so quickly tells me that's its moving right along. Does anyone have any guesses?

My guess: 12 weeks.

Some schools have rolling admissions & respond somewhat quickly. Other schools wait unti la deadline (they may have a few during the year). and respond to everyone at the same time.

Many schools offer early admissions. For them, they won't make any decisions until all are considered. No one will find out until the early admissions deadline is passed.

So -- breathe. Relax. Don't worry too much.

often you hear in march/ april of a year. Sending in extra early will not help since most schools have a team that only works during special times in the year. If its early decision etc they should have a deadline like november etc. That notice just says they recieved a full application I believe. Normally there are only a few people that work in these offices year round.
