The focus is on New Orleans because its the largest city that was struck. Plus, it flooded when the levees broke. New Orleans was the quint-essential disaster-waiting-to-happen. Unfortunately, it happened. The government screwed up on every level - from local to state to federal. That alone is a major thing in itself.

I agree with you though. The media needs to focus more on the smaller towns. Especially the few that were actually wiped cleanly off the map.

I am sick of it, but it is generally true. Yes, other cities like Biloxi and Gulf Coast got pummeled, but New Orleans was squished. If you look and see what has happened in a year, New Orleans hasn't improved as much as Mississippi, Texas or other places. New Orleans is still really bad and it still needs a lot of work. It's projected that it will not be the same for 35 years... and that's if they don't get another storm. I'm tired of the coverage, yes, but New Orleans still needs a lot of help.

Yes I am!! When I gave money for those in Hurricane Katrina, I only gave to money to help Mississippi.
The way I figure, New Orleans is getting so much money, it didn't need mine!!
All those who live and lived outside of New Orleans - I am thinking about you!!!

If as much attention were given to how to fix the problems instead of complaining about them they would go away. Naturally many groups are using the racial card to increase pressure on the federal government but they forget it is the state and local levels of government that is holding up the work. As said the other night on TV the little environmental regulations are holding up much of the work. As the officials watch raw sewerage go down the street they are complaining that new lines may hamper the environment.

NO - America is waking up to the fact that it has been hiding from the fact that it has the highest poverty rate in the western world!!!!

If America cannot look after it's own people properly how can it claim it is great?

Keep looking at New Orleans - it is waking up the politicians and opening the public's eyes to the shortcomings of the President and government!

Yes!! I live near the Ms. coast which was actually destroyed BY the storm. New Orleans would not have been as badly off if the levees had not broken. So yes, I am so sick of it.

No. I'm sick of america talking about John mark Karr and that John Bennet ****. I'm sick of hearing about this cult. We need to keep talking about Katrina. We need to start talking about Aids in Africa to and how they are dying and starving. We need to talk about this global warming because the issue wont be resolved by not talking about it and we need to bring the ******* troops home because Ive seen enough of them dying for some unfounded alligations! And we need to impeach Bush I know I voted for Kerry!

yes I agree, but I think that the other cities that were affected were not as heavily damaged as NO, not to mention the fact that almost 500,000 people were affected in NO alone, so that is why it is still being talked about, plus they are not even close to recovered from it, the city is corrupt, and is full of crime.
