A job is work where you get paid and you may or may not get fulfilment from the work.
A profession or career is a job where you get fulfilment from your work. Ie this is the job you want to do for the rest of your life, rather then I'm doing this job to make money.

a job without a profession is a simple job - menial factory work, or any predictable 'non developmental/strategic' work - the dinner ladies at schools have 'jobs'. Jamie Oliver is a professional Chef and he is providing guidance as to what these dinner ladies cook. A professional who has a job in his profession doing what he is qualified to do would be much more specialised and highly trained and should be capable of initiating developmental progress and therefore contributing to his profession. An obvious example would be cancer researchers. A less obvious example would be perhaps an Architect until you look closer and see how the materials building are composed of have developed over the years and how more modern structures are in keeping with the changing times in the way of appeal and being better able to cope with adverse weather conditions etc. You could say roughly that professionals are white collar workers and blue collar workers just have jobs. Neither can progress without the other. The architect can design the building but he still needs the chap to dig the foundations.

A profession implies much more than a job. A profession is part of your identity, a part of who you are. For instance, a doctor is not just a person who does a job in medicine--a doctor IS the person doing the job--and we relate to that person in his/her profession, even in social situations outside of medicine. This is not the case with jobs such as janitor or assembly line workers, where the job and the person are separate identities. That's one of the main things which distinguishes a job from a profession. Hope this helps.

Two possible options:
1) A job is something you get up and go do, collect a paycheck and then go about your business.
A profession is something you enjoy doing, that you get up in the morning looking forward to go do and partially or fully dedicate your life to.
2) Job - Is where you work, Profession - Is what you do

A "profession" is a job which requires you to pass an examination set by the government or a regulatory authority. Most professions have organizations to enforce specific standards and determine qualifications (doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc.).
