The general "Rule of thumb" for postpartum safety is
NOTHING in the vagina for 6 weeks. Period.
This is because the site where the placenta was attached to your uterus is still healing, and sticking anything up there could result in an infection of your uterus.
I know pads are icky, but it's the safest thing.
If the disposable pads are causing a rash, consider trying nice soft cloth ones! They feel SOOO much nicer on your tender skin down there.

If you like internal protection, consider a DivaCup for once your period returns. They are so comfy, you can forget you are on your period, and so effective you can leave it in for up to 12 hours. They also do not have the risk of TSS like tampons do.

Well girl, you should wait at least 6 to 8 weeks, that's what my doctor told me, I gave birth four months ago, and still can't use it, it depends on the case, remember that you'll have your 6 weeks check up, and you need to wait a little bit more than 6 weeks give or take 8, but dont rush, better safe than sorry.

I would follow doctors advice and wait at least 6 weeks. Your body is already healing from the baby. You can introduce bacteria into yourself and get a nasty infection. It is always better to be safe than sorry. I am sure many women will tell you its fine and that they did it before and nothing happened to them. That is ignorance...not to be rude. But think about it, back the day they didnt even wash their hands before delivering a baby and we all know now the hazards of that.
