The receipt would have to be very well-done... harder to falsify than money, or the Republicans would whine about nonexistent voters (and well I suppose it could happen, too)
It should print out two receipts, one which you keep and one which stays at the polling place... but you should verify that they are both the same.
There needs to be a better recount system than what they currently have with voting machines, which is literally to press the Count button again and get exactly the same result. Otherwise, they don't even meet voting standards in my opinion... there are always provisions for a recount, but they literally conduct them by pressing the Count button again and get the same result.

an independent electronics expert said the diebold machine was designed to be hacked.bush said it was unhackable. who do you believe?but yeah a paper copy would be good.I've seen cheap calculators that have a paper roll. how hard could it be?it would provide an honest count of votes....oh yeah that wouldn't work in GOP.s favor.

That'd be a good idea, and many Congressmen are working on it.
Unfortunately, thh President of Diebold (one of the EVM makers) is friends with President Bush.

Election watchers like they have in third world country's, It is the shame of America that in the greatest democracy on earth that we have to have U.N. election watchers to make sure that we hold fair, open and honest elections. The repuglican party has taken this nation to new lows. Their record setting voter fraud is unbelievable.

No, they have to count the receipt. Just because you have the receipt, doesn't mean the machine counted it in that way, or someone can't hack into it.

Well a good start would be to get a company not in the republican party's pockets to make the equipment.

That seems like a good idea, except that those could also be forged easily enough.
