If its 100% cotton, it will shrink quite a bit in the dryer on the hottest setting. Also wash in hot water.

wash the items you want to shrink at a different setting , then what the manufacturer as adviced, also if the item of clothing says do not machine dry then do the opposite

The suggestions below (primiarly dryer) will usually work. Just be careful you don't shrink it smaller than you want it...and remember it may shrink in every direction, not just length or not just width.

If it's made of wool, you can wash it in your washing machine on the hottest water setting...then dry it in the dryer on the hottest setting there as well. The only problem with this method? It might get TOO small! :)

But your clothes through a hot water wash and put that directly into a dryer.

if the colours wont run: wash it at a higher temperature and then dry it for longer than you normally would. make sure you keep an eye on it.
