Ultrasounds are fine as long as they are done in a doctor's office by a trained technician and not at one of those "peek at your baby" boutiques. Your doctor will not let you have more ultrasounds than are safe for you. I had ultrasounds at 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 20 weeks, and sometime in the third trimester with my son with no problems. If you have any questionable symptoms, it is common to have more ultrasounds to attempt to determine their cause.

Throughout my entire present pregnancy, I have had Stage 2 ultrasounds every 3 weeks. The only reason to get an ultrasound every month is if there are problems or potential problems. I seen a show about too many ultrasounds causes brain cells to move differently. Your child may come out being left handed or dislexic (sp). No major defects have been noted, but I woulnd't take the risk unless my baby was already at risk for something else. Good Luck and congratulations!!

You shouldn't need one every months unless there are problems...I had 3 by the time I was 14 weeks. I was on clomid so the first one was at 5 weeks to see how many babies ther was..(only 1 thank goodness) then one at 7 weeks (had some bleeding ) and then one for size dating (the other 2 weren't matching where I really was in the pregnancy) Turns out because they were all at diferent hospitals with different techs etc. I had another one at 34 weeks to check the blood flow in the umbilical cord

Is there a medical indication that you need an ultrasound once a month? If there is not a good strong medical reason for it then I wouldn't allow them that often, personally.

I am 28 and have two children I was high risk with both so I had so many I can't remember but they say now that the ultrasonic waves can cause brain damage although both my boys are fine so maybe you should surf for more info.

Ultrasounds do not hurt the baby. If the doctor keeps doing them it is fine.
I had four during mine.
