I borrowed what I could, I got several pair of maternity jeans and pants and assorted tops in the bigger sizes (depending on the length)...best thing to do is wait until you can't wear your regular clothes.
Don't hang out in sweats....make yourself look good and you'll feel better.

I did not buy an entire wardrobe. I did buy a pair of bibs. I would normally never wear them, but they are wonderful when you're pregnant. I bought several shirts and had about 5 different pairs of pants or slacks specifically for pregnancy. My bibs were not maternity and I was able to wear them immediately after I had the baby. I had my little girl in the winter so I wore many of my own oversized sweatshirts. I wouldn't buy a lot at first because some women don't mind wearing clothes that are around their belly and some do. You'll want to discover which type you are. Invest in a lightweight cardigan because you will get hot easily and will want to be able to remove clothing when you are larger. Of course every woman is different. I gained only what I was supposed to so the clothes situation was easier for me. Good luck!

It depends on how comfortable you are showing off that beautiful growing belly:) I wore most of my pre-pregnancy shirts until around 7 months. At that point I purchased some "maternity" shirts that I thought I could use after the baby while breastfeeding. Some of the stores I went to were A Pea in the Pod ($$$), Mimi Maternity, and local stores. Also, check with local friends who have had babies and see if you can borrow maternity clothes. As for pants...try a Bella Band. Very useful when transitioning from pre-baby waist to growing tummy. Yoga pants were also great since they were so stretchy. I'm still wearing them a lot post-baby. Gap also has a maternity section along with Old Navy. They usually have some nice maternity basics for cheap. Good luck!

first - 2 bottoms a size bigger. then - maternity clothes, like a pair of pants with that calf around belly (my size, which reads 0-9 months). I'm planning to have only a couple necessary things. What's the point of spending a lot of $$$ for a new wardrobe. I didn't become very big yet, so don't know what am I gonna do next.

I bought maternity clothes from second hand shops. You dont use them that long and unless you have a office job where you need the fancy business stuff dont bother. I was big during the summer and shorts and some shirts that it is. For the begining I just wore stretchy pants, track pants, those velvet pants that are stretchy. Towards the end though you need something unless you want to wear sweat pants through out the end. The only clothes I have is some shorts...you can wear stretchy or drawstring shorts, and some shirts. Tshirts work for everything.

I got hand me downs from my sister in law. Then I went to a thrift store and bought some stuff there. Everything I bought new from Walmart and other places always seemed to rip or break on me or I ended up not liking. Half of my clothes were just bigger sizes and the other half were actually maternity stuff, and some of it was just stretchy stuff I had like sweats. I kind of wish I had just bought high quality maternity clothes from an actual store, because I always felt ugly and frumpy wearing second hand but we couldn't afford it. Plus I wore different sizes in all of my 3 pregnancies because of the weight gain that I never lost from previously, starting at Medium and ending up as a 1XL. I would've done a lot of different stuff during and after my pregnancies. Anyways, I would suggest investing in a couple of high quality mix and match outfits, like pants, skirts, and shirts...especially seeing that you go to work as a professional every day.

You don't need to buy maternity clothes until you really grow a belly. You should buy a few outfits for when you go out, otherwise you could just live in sweats. Buy a dress, a couple of pants, and a few shirts to wear that you think will make you feel nice.

Whoever said you aren't going to need maternity clothes is fooling themselves. I started to need them after 3 months. Since you have an office job you may want to buy at least 3 outfits you can wear to work. Other than that I found that yoga pants. *the really loose ones with a band over the belly* are awesome because they aren't maternity and you can use them after the baby. Pick and choose what maternity stuff you buy very carefully because you aren't going to be pregnant forever and they are really expensive. If you know some people who have had babies recently, ask them if they have any to hand down.. its worth saving the money..
note: I looked at thift stores for maternity stuff and never found any.

This answer probably depends on your income level. One of the most important purchases is a good bra. You might also prefer to own 1 or 2 pairs of nice maternity pants and then sweats. It's OK to spend money on maternity if you plan on having more than 1 child...they are more like an investment that way.

I go to Once Upon a Child that has barely used maternity clothes, along with a huge selection of barely used children clothing and toys. You cant tell the clothes have ever been worn, I always wash them before I wear them anyway though. I mean, why go out and buy and bunch of expensive clothes that you are only going to be wearing a few months?!?
