I've heard how people think he's doing this war for nothing, but would Bush have started this war if 9/11 never happened? Would he try and counter-attack terrorism?

Please don't think I'm a Bush supporter or hater, I'm not, I couldn't care less about the man, I just want to see what other people think. I saw this question at another site and I'm passing it on.

The war was inevitable, the way it was handled is inexcusable. Yes, the war would have been started either way, 9/11 was simply a catalyst that sped things up.
I hate to downplay a horrific tragedy like 9/11, but 9/11 was a symptom, not the disease. The disease is the mistrust and downright hate that exists in the middle east in general, and between Muslim extremists and other religions in particular.
The problems are the same ones that have been going on for centuries between Muslims, Christians and Jews. Everyone thinks their God or Allah is the best and anyone who feels otherwise must die or be converted.

Bush definitely would have attacked Iraq even if 9/11 never happened. The Bush administration used 9/11 to get more support for Iraq. Iraq was a target prior to 9/11 and 9/11 just made it much easier.

This is a question that cannot be answered, it is like if I ask myself , would I have become a lawyer if I had stayed in College? This war started way before George Bush, if Clinton had had the guts to kill Osama when they found him Sep 11 would have not even happened. Stop blaming the President for it!! People are SO blind it makes me sick!

no, i don't think he would've. besides, he and blair are invading that country iraq, when it wasn't them that started 9/11 in the first place! stupid or what?! bush must be a complete prick eh? if 9/11 didn't happen then bush and blair wouldn't be make such a catastrophic mess of iraq that they've done already. and the excuses he makes for his country, not to mention blair tagging along as his poodle, in attacking iraq isn't also unjustified but pathetic also. and thus, we'd eventually found out that iraq didn't have WMDs and so bush and blair lied through their teeth. those two are ******* liars.
though shame that two of the west's richest nations have for its leaders two dumb asses in the making. as they and us people in britain deserve so much better

Do you mean would Congress have voted for war? If you want to be factual, Bush didnt just send American troops without Congressional approval.
No, troops wouldnt have been sent.

YES!! he was determined to finish what his daddy started. The Iraq war had NOTHING to d owith 9/11. he would not have sent 15% of the military to Afghanistan though, instead he would have sent them ALL to Iraq.

Bush knew about 9-11 beforehand. He did nothing to stop it. He wanted America to be willing to go to war.
