Do we really have to explain ourselves to people who do not understand us and are closed minded? I wish I didn't have to waste my time on explaining myself to ignorant people. Do you all feel the same?

Incognitas:
I don't dislike straight people. I don't have time for stupid and opinionated non factual statements from them. Why should I give them a chance if they don't let me?

I really don't mind what you people say, it's just frustrating. Maybe I care too much and like to help people out.

Tom:
You are right! I should probably not get so touchy but, when a person asks, I will tell them if I feel comfortable with them. When they inform me that I am going to Hell and it's wrong, then it tells me that they need to do some research. I feel like they talk down to me. I guess I get to touchy!

They understand something different from you, and from another perspective. Now, if you were in a house on fire and someone kept telling you, 'The house is on fire!" and you ignored and ignored, them saying "You do not understand!" You would both be right. You do not understand the house is on fire, and they do not understand what is keeping YOU in the house.

It's kinda like on "King of the Hill" where Bobby is going to take "Buddha" test, and Hank does not want him to. He finally asks Bobby, "What do they HAVE on you, boy?"

Things will only become clear when EVERY perspective is respected. Then, if you are in a burning house, and refuse to come out because you are actually wanting to be in the house, the person yelling to come out, can stop. You can stop explaining.

Then it's just a matter of picking your battles. I agree that it can get very frustrating, always feeling that you are justifying your self. Don't feel that you have to answer every question, or explain all the time. If it's something important to you, if the person asking is REALLY asking because they just don't know, or want to understand, then I would make the effort. If they are being willfully ignorant, rude or hateful, I just don't respond. You're not going to change everybody...but if you are selective about who you debate with, then you would be suprised at the difference we can make. And never argue. Debate. It's all about an exchange of ideas and opinions. Everyone is entitled to them, and I will listen to someone who doesn't agree with me..as long as it's a discussion, and not an argument. The instant it turns into one, I shut down.

Hope this helps, and best of luck.

You don't have to explain anything to anybody. Leave ignorance to the ignorant. If they don't understand, 9 times out of 10 it's not for them to understand. That's how people get jacked up these days. Trying to understand sh!t that doesn't pertain to them. Honestly, I think a lot of straight people find gays & lesbians interesting and intriguing, but refuse to admit it and cover it up with blasphemy and disrespect.

Have you ever tried making them explain themselves? Ask them when they realized they were straight and stuff like that. The same kind of ignorant questions that they ask you. If they really push the issue, don't sweat it. They probably aren't worth the time and effort. You aren't going to convert them to the open minded side with arguements and yelling, so tell them to deal with it and put it outof mind.

I try to enlighten them. I am a piece of mirror reflecting the light into dark spaces. Sometimes it barely lights enough to sparkle once and make no impresion soemtimes it blinds them and sometimes just every once in a while it lights a path for them to see. We are here we are Gods children we are born this way and we are born in the image of God. Those that can't accept it I have real pitty for because of thier judgement they will have to stand before the judgement seat and answer for it. It is not our place to pass judgement on them anymore than it is their place to pass judgement on us. We are all Gods children and we are all living under the same strictures.

Unfortunately yes.

These are the people who actually vote. Sad, but true.
They vote to deny us basic human rights, the right to marry, the right to raise and/or adopt children, the right to not be fired from a job because someone THINKS someone is gay, the right to not be denied housing or lodging.
These ignorant fools need to be argued with and taught the truth before they throw all human rights back to the dark ages!!

I'm not a lesbian, but I understand how you feel. There are a lot of ignorant people who answer questions, but don't take it too seriously. People ridicule things they don't understand.

I recently posted this question:

As you can see, some of the responses were downright brutal. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but some people don't seem to realize that their comments are hurtful to other people.

explain yourself how, about what, the fact that you like men, or??????? I figure any insight we can give to straighty can't hurt. I mean maybe they're just trying to understand certain things because they don't have any experience being around gay people. "Proving" how fabulous you are to straighty can only serve as a positive way to lesson the ignorance and hatred towards all us homos!!!

In this world the only thing you really have to do is live, pay taxes and die. In that order.

Anything else is a matter of choice my friend. Argue if you wish, be who you are is a must.
