The most usual sound is the trumpeting. They do
make other sounds, as other people have said in
their answers. They also produce sounds that
are subsonic (for humans, below their hearing
range) that carry long distances, used for
communication with other elephants. Whether
this is a part of the same sound that has been
described as belly rumblings I don't know.

Elephants TRUMPET, LOW, GRUNT and BELLOW. The one you're looking for is probably TRUMPET.

They can also cry, but that doesn't have a sound (If you get REALLY, REALLY close you might hear something like tears forming...).

They make a lot of different sounds . . . but I believe what you are probably referring to is called "trumpeting."
