To the ones with the answers to the homework questions do you feel a bit of guilt after reading the above. You can only answer because you LEARNED how to work the problem.

Yeah, Kevin. And maybe winged monkeys will fly out of your butt ☺

I don't know what the answer is. And I taught math for a lot of years. Part of it is that a bunch of kids get out of high-school and they can barely count on their fingers. And most of them can't be given a book and told to read it because they're borderline illiterate. And maybe Society really **is** to blame for all that because too many parents treat school like a glorified babbysetting service and then get irate when Little Johnny gets a failing grade. They threaten to sue, the school system caves in, and it keeps on getting worse.

And guess what, kiddies? It's starting to happen at the University level. I have seen brand-new BSc. EE's who **literally** did not know Ohms law.

It's pretty grim out there.

Seems clear that the people who created Yahoo Answers don't have a problem with others getting homework help here. They must feel that the benefits (people gaining in understanding) outweigh the disadvantages (some people just want someone else to do the work for them).

If you really have a problem with it, why don't you write the makers of Yahoo Answers, who are the ones that can actually do something about it?

It is nice for help recipients to see that there are multiple ways of doing things, and also to see the steps to a correct answer. The steps represent someone's thought process, which often can be learned/copied. You are correct though that if a student does no independent thinking about their homework, they will reap what they sow on test day.

Maybe they print out the answers at home and study how the person who answered their question came up with it.

I think they flunk and then drop out, blaming the entire education system and the society for not taking care of them!
