In the past I have actually been declined for a job because I was considered overqualified for it, (which was true), but I already knew I was worth more money than that job. However, I needed the money and the job was open, so why does a business care if your overqualified for a position as long as you are still willing to do it.

It would seem to me that they are getting something like a PhD mind/worker for high school pay!? I do not have a PhD, but you get the analogy I was trying to make. So you agree with me, is being overqualified for a job any reason not to get it?

Yes its a big reason...Being over qualified makes you more likely to leave that job. Most Jobs don't want to be a temporary thing and knowing that your over qualified makes them not so inclined to hire you. They know that you have the option of finding something better. If they hire someone who is qualified then they are more likely to stay for a while. Get it?

Why precisely is your interest demanding? Is it too a lot artwork? too a lot responsibility? a blend of both? you could seem at it from a diverse attitude and understand that if youre too comfortable in you're interest, you're also not getting extra constructive, not progressing or getting to understand new skills. rigidity is actual a good indicator that you've stepped out of your generic artwork convenience zone and are adapting to demanding circumstances you at the on the spot are not yet used to dealing with. This became ok 20-30-40 years in the past, now organizations seem if you could deal with an excellent type of projects in a matrix type of employer. it really is a lot extra dynamic and yet useful than the commonplace correct down piramid hierarchy. as an get mutually, take the region of an engineer, formerly, a familiar engineer became in value of in ordinary words the technical information of a project. Drawings, specs, prints etc. in recent times, he's envisioned not in ordinary words to be in value of the technical information, yet as well be a project manager organizing deliverables, a cost accountant arising with budgets or perhaps a save clerk interacting with shoppers. All skills that are required, a minimum of to a pair volume. Now, are you particular you nevertheless favor to have a "ordinary and common" interest?

the problem with being overqualified is not really about money, its about building a cohesive team and if you are not cut of the same cloth as the rest of the team, whether underqualified or overqualified you wont get the job.

If you are overqualified, they don't want to risk hiring you, training you and orienting you just to have you leave when something better comes along. Trust me, I've been there.

Unfortunately yes.

My fiancee has experiences like that, and it applies in his case particularly to a closed-shop. (Union) If, by taking that position with that company, you are automatically a member of a union, they can't pay you less just because you are willing to accept it. They are required by their agreement with the union to pay a certain amount for certain jobs, and if they cannot afford to pay you enough, they can't accept you.

yes, because the company does not want to pay you what you are worth... in nursing persay, such as in an emergency room, the more certifications you have, the more money you can make... but if you walk in with every cert. and they only want a basic nurse, you would be too expensive to them...

no it not but most companies think that the more qualities one has the more money that they will need so why pay more money for something they can get cheaper
