I took off with my mom's car about 6 month's ago and drove it up and down the street. I have had about 5 years driving practice on a farm. I am almost 16. Should I get my driver's license? How will you be able to tell me if I can?

I feel mature enough to get behind the wheel. I have driven on an open farm and practiced with an adult for 6 years.

You are going to need one sooner or later might as well go get it now. You will need it not only to drive but to cash your check if you get a job.

There is no harm is someone your age having a d/l. Just remember that you are not only responsible for your life, but others as well.

In NYC you probably have no reason to drive within the area for all the forms of transportation are easy and affordable. But when you venture out of the city you will surely want the ability to get around. Rural areas and places like Los Angeles are not fun on a bus and expensive by taxi. Driving is a priviledge you can learn and earn anytime in life after age 16. It will be easier to pass and cheaper to get insurance if you wait until after graduating from High School. Good grades reduce insurance costs as do being over 21, and getting married is another possible drop in the expense if you haven't had any accidents filed.

You should if your parents agree but note; Driving without insurance is a mature thing to do and you risk loosing your license before you get it. Also it's not cheap to have a car these days so make sure you can the insurance and all. I wish you the best.
PS. My brother (years ago) only drove the car down the street for kicks till he hit the nice police officer's car.

Do you feel mature enough to handle the privileges of driving?

Does the law allow you to obtain a provincial license?

If so, go for it.

If you're in NYC, you don't need a car. Gas prices are ridiculous - use public transportation.

I think that you should. It sounds like you've had enough experience.
