Well i have a kinda old laptop but not to old and it lags when i play games and use the laptop. It sometimes freezes for a long time then keeps going. Its very slow. I have defragmented it already (4hours) and i did many other things. What do you think i should do to stop this?! BTW i only have 256MB of RAM. You think putting a memory card (256MB) will help?

1) Don't play games on it that require more powerful computers...
2) Upgrade/Replace
3) Yes, putting in a memory card might help if you mean extra RAM. Just make sure that is is exactly the same brand as the RAM which is already inside, and same bus speed, etc. If you mean a PCMCIA or USB memry card, then NO, probably not.
4) Replace Windows with Linux. This might cause problems with some games, though.
5) Swop it for a slightly better desktop computer.

Oh, and the speed of the computer is dependable on A LOT more than the RAM, so please give more detail next time. Like CPU type and speed, frontside bus speed, detail of onboard graphics, operating system, etc.

first off, you need to see how much more RAM your comp can take. would be best to add more since that nevers hurts. also, shut down any program you don't use. the ones in your system tray that boot up on startup? close those down that you don't use. could also be overheating too.
