I'm going to get a laptop but I can't decide if I should get the Intel Core Duo Processor T2050 (2MB Cache, 1.60GHz. 533MHz FSB) or the T2400 (2MB Cache, 1.83 GHz, 667MHz FSB) at a slightly higher cost? I have no clue about processors and what the GHz and MHz are for? Is it really a case of more is better or just unnecessary?

You will likely not notice a significant amount of speed difference between the two. My rule of thumb, however, is to buy the most processor speed that you can afford since the technology will start to fall behind from the day you make the purchase. This will buy you a bit more time before you have to replace/upgrade the unit in the future when it becomes too slow to run future software applications. For the "slight higher cost" as you metioned I would prefer the T2400. Another consideration involving laptops, however, would be to check if the higher processor speed translates to a lower battery life...just another item to weigh in your decision.

In either case, you are getting a very capable laptop.

Good luck.

actual get a quickly processor, it would desire to look positive interior the quick run, yet interior the long-term it wont do you lots solid. that's fairly useful to play video games and such interior the destiny and all your doing is restricting your self by ability of having it. i might in my opinion spend fairly extra and get a 2.0 ghz on the least. in the journey that your on a funds, you will stumble on a somewhat solid deal on a twin center a million.8Ghz which will nevertheless be lots extra helpful than a a million.6Ghz CPU.

It really depends on what you are going to be using your laptop for...the extra processing speed might help you if you want gaming or maybe video editing. I upgraded to the 1.83 GHz one and i really like it but if you are mainly using your laptop for word or office work, or school work the extra speed is probably unnecessary.
