i've found that between 1820 and 1920 more than 2.5million people emigrated from here to the united states alone.

just wondering because of the volume of postings on here regarding the amount of people that have emigrated to the uk from elsewhere.

if anyone could provide links or references, that would be great.

In 2004 an estimated 223,000 more people migrated to the UK than migrated abroad. This estimated net inflow is much higher than for 2003 when 151,000 more people arrived to live in the UK than left to live abroad.

Try looking at http://www.statistics.gov.uk under population for more information

The Home Office used to publish the figures, and until recently more people emigrated from the UK every year than immigrated here. Try Googling for "uk population statistics" or similar.
