I've cut the carbs, i eat smaller amounts of food thrice a day, work all day (i'm a sales associate), and walk at least 30 mins. everyday. I want to drop at least 5 lbs in a month, but still, i'm not seeing any results. :( any idea as to why this is so?

i agree with the first person, may be a thyroid problem. Cutting carbs is NOT the answer, maybe for a little bit, but many people who do that wind up gaining all that weight back and more. You should be eating anywhere from 4-6 small meals a day, be sure to get enough protien in your diet, veggies and fruit, as well as carbs. If you eat whole wheat pasta or bagels, they will keep you "full" longer since they take longer for your body to digest. drink plenty of water, and try upping your cardio, try a little jogging to get your heart rate up. i'm not in to counting calories, never worked for me...MODERATION is key in any foods that you love. don't deprive yourself from chocolate, or whatever your sweet indulgence is...just in moderation.

You should add weight lifting to your routine. This will add muscle which burns more calories with less effort. Try free weights or do a weight circuit at your local gym.

You may need to increase your intensity of your walks, or start jogging/running. To get started you could run for a couple of minutes, then have a walk break until you can eventually jog for 20 - 30 minutes with not walk breaks in between.

You didn't put the weight on overnight, don't expect it to drop overnight. Keep up the good work!!

I am on the last chapter of Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Solution, it might have some ideas in there for you. (I don't have a weight problem, I just like reading health/fitness books.) I have also read "Body For Life" - Bill Philips, which was really good. Get With The Program and Make the Connection both by Bob Greene which were good. Bob Greene is Oprah's personal trainer. Reading those will help with your motivation. That is why I read them, to keep me motivated to get to the gym!!

1st of all you should have at least 2 carbs depending on your weight now, drink 64 oz of water a day, limit pop to 2-3 cans a day (diet) eat lots of fruits and fresh green vegetables, you should also include a fat for sure, such as 1 tablespoon of mayo or 1 tablespoon of butter something with fat, just not cooked fat. Lots of protein is a good idea as well. You sound like you keep pretty busy so I wouldn't worry to much about exercise unless you feel like you just sat around all day. Cut out all salt and sugar. You can have Morton's lite salt for potassium. That should do it for you, if not than for sure check with your doctor.

cutting carbs and the amount of food is not always ideal since it sets you up to make wrong food choices. you are probably starving your body and it's saving what you eat. start eating 3 meals and 3 moderate snacks a day and only cut out bad carbs such as cookies, cakes, white bread, pancakes, rolls, and other highly processed foods. they don't have much to offer nutritionally. instead try eating brightly colored, high fiber, fruits, berries, vegies, whole fruit juices, whole wheat, whole grain high fiber breads, tortillas, chips, cereals, oatmeals, crackers and potatoes with low/nonfat flavorings, lean proteins such as fish, chicken, ham, turkey, peanut butter, nuts, and beans, string cheese, and low/nonfat dairy products such as yogurt, soy milk, cheese, and light ice cream. snack on organic TLC bars found in the cereal aisle, fruits, vegies, etc. you should be eating around 1900 calories a day to lose weight. drink plenty of water and green tea, and EXERCISE at least 30 minutes a day 4-5 days a week. add 10 more minutes every month until you are at 60 minutes of cardio 5 days a week, and make sure to add weight lifting and resistance exercises to help build muscle and to burn calories. it's not what you don't eat, it's what you eat and how your fuel and work your body. do it right!

Maybe walking isn't enough for you. Some people need a more aerobic exercise routine, or weights. I have friends who do nothing but walk everyday and have lost lots, and others who do the same thing and can't shed anything! Like me, for example! lol

Check your thyroid at the Dr. Also, could you be pregnant? I had a period with my first daughter so when I wasn't losing weight I went to the Dr. and found out I was pregnant.

if all you have to lose is 5 lbs... then you are gonna have to work 50 times harder because youdont have alot of weight to lose. You should probably add some weights toy our program which will actually put on muscle (which is heavier then fat) but you will be trimmer

If you were really doing the South Beach diet (cut carbs to zero), you would HAVE to have lost the 5 you're trying for ---- so, you are 'fudging' somewhere. . .

Go see your doctor and tell him/her whats going on. Ask that they check your thyroid. If your thyroid is off you will have a terrible time losing weight.
