If you consider the roots of liberalism in the French republic, the ideologies close similarity to socialism, would the ideology support taking control of a government? Would the ideology support taking control of the means of production?

The liberal idealogy does not support the governmental control of personal lives such as totalitarianism would. Life, Liberty, and Liberalism.
The control of production is not supported. The regulation of production to allow a fair and stable system is the more better idea. Like having rules in a soccer game. No dirty play and if you pull a Zidane, red card!

Well if you allow yourself to change the parameters to your liking you can prove just about anything. Liberalism is about liberty. Read some John Stuart Mill. It was in opposition of absolute rule by a monarch. It advocated extended voting rights, not just to rich white landowning males. Your comparisons with socialism is pointless because liberalism opposes socialism.
You take control of a government by winning a national election, held according to the constitution. Anything else would be a revolution. I think actually a minority of all *communists* in the west would approve of that. Liberalism certainly wouldn't. Stop confusing Liberalism with Marxism-Leninism. It's like comparing Conservatism with National Socialism. Dumb.
