( I've been through 4 doctors) Anyone have any idea what I can do other than meds...I'm ruining my marriage but I can't be a zombie. Is there natural herbs or something...I'm at the end and don't know what else to do...Please help....

I take 2000 mg of Divalproex (the delayed release) tablets a day for bi-polar. There is another name, I am not sure of the spelling (depecote). I don't care for my psychiatrist, so my neurologist prescribes them for me. As to your question counseling at regular intervals. I am a veteran and it is cheaper to give you a pill and send you home. When I have had mental health care givers there that I cared for it seemed like they move on in a hurry. I used the word care giver because at the VA they sometimes have a see a nurse practitioner in place of a doctor. One had me stand naked in front of him while he listed my tattooes into a recording device. I was in the Coast Guard as a sailor, I thought every sailor got a tattoo, at least most of them when I was in. I did report the guy to my neurologist, she had a hard time believing that. I think a counselor/therapist may help you. I would think you would need to trust him and probably go weekly. Therapy is pretty expensive, if you can afford it I would try it rather that pills.

I am a nurse in this field and don't know of any natural remedies. I have a concern that you have not found the right doctor (even though you have seen four), you need a compassionate doctor that will HEAR you and your concerns and take an accurate history on the medications you have tried, side affects and symptoms. The BIGGEST problem with this diagnosis is non-med compliance, mostly for the reason mentioned. Please find a support group!!!

I understsand what your going through my niece also is Bi-polar she is 20 now. First i want to say try praying and fasting. Then I'll have to recommend reading Kevin treadu book Natural Cures they don't want you to know.
Its gonna take a combination of meds/herbs/therapy/and support to help you. Try to be careful what you put in your body and in your mind try seeing the glass as half full instead of half emtpy. Learn how to be more optimistic . Stress has all types of effects on our bodies. I think you might find yoga and meditation very relaxing, relieving and helpful. And try not to worry about so much. Who's gonna take care of you if you don't? And you can't take care of your family and husband if your sick. Take it easy girlfriend

No, you can't. It cycles and no cure. You do need to find the right combination of medications though. Ones that you can function with. Try some of the newer medications, they have less side effects. It must be horrible to live with this. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I work in a facility with this disorder. I watch the cycles. There is no cure, other than medications to help control it. So sorry!

Get your doctors to check you for hyperinsulinemia and/or low blood sugar. If these are present they may contribute to your bi-polar.

www.hufa.org has some basic information about blood sugar imbalances.

i'm pretty sure that there are natural herbs that you can take, not positive which ones. you can check out www.naturessunshine.com
they may hav recommendations there...
regular massage sessions can also help. an iridology or refelxology session can help to recommend herbs that may help you, reflexology can also help to stimulate your nervous system and help bring balance. you can do an online search for local reflexologists, iridologists, or massage therapists. some of your local massage therapists or health food stores may even be able to recommend an iridologist or reflexologist.

My grandfather quit taking his, and the whole familyl--my side and his--was preparing to have him committed for his sake. Please change doctors again..I know it's a pain to do so again (I had b/c they kept screwing up medicine I take) but you really need someone who knows what they are doing.
