Standing with hats off, right hand over heart - left hand to side (unless holding a child or etc,) if not in uniform, if in uniform
saluting is proper including boy scouts, veterans & etc.
NO TALKING! Except for the Pledge itself. At ball games it drives me crazy when kids around me talk during the National Athem or Pledge of Allegience. God bless the USA.

When I was in uniform I saluted flag and recited the pledge. Now I just put my hand over my heart.

Do you mean in words or in posture? Let's do both.
One should be standing, with one's right hand over one's heart. If a flag is available (and if pledging allegiance to it, it should be!), then one should be facing the flag and looking at it.
The words are, "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
However, if you're in a humorous mood, check out Matt Groenig's version: "I plead alignment to the flakes of the untitled snakes of a merry cow, and to the Republicans for which they scam, one nacho, underpants, with licorice and jugs of wine for owls." It may be a little "sacreligious" but it's funny as heck. =)

You can't. The liberals have outlawed it. If you do and get caught you be hung in the middle of the street.

With pride and conviction. Otherwise, don't bother.
To me, it's kind of like praying -- It doesn't matter if you do it perfectly, it only matters whether or not you mean it.
