Most babies love pacifiers. And it is soothing for them. As adults we have our soothers too - coffee, gum, a cigarette, a drink after work ... don't feel bad about the soother.
It sounds like your baby might have thrush.
Thrush is an infection in the mouth caused by a yeast-like organism called Candida albicans. This condition is most common in newborns, who may develop it around 7 to 10 days after birth. Infants may get this infection from their mothers during delivery because this organism is frequently found in the vagina.
Don't try to scrape it off as it will probably bleed. This may also be part of the problem why your baby is crying, because it may be making her mouth sore.
You should take your baby to see a doc. sometimes thrush will clear up on its own, but I'd get her checked. She may need an anti-fungal medication.
Lots of babies get thrush, so don't feel bad about it. When my kids were little, we called it "white mouth".
These links should help you. Take care of yourselves.

Let me tell you this; I went crazy when I found out the same thing on my 4 months old baby boy, but the truth is that it will go away; my baby used to throw up milk all the time and with the pacifier this started to happened; I used baby oil with aloe (from J&J) and let me tell you, it works really works, it took my baby a couple weeks to fade and after a month is gone completely. you should also be aware of the color and shape and borders of her white spot, why? in babycenter.com it says that it could be Tinea Versicolor or or pityriasis versicolor.....
What causes tinea versicolor?
A fungus that normally lives on the skin flares up, causing the uneven skin color. If your child has tinea versicolor, it's because he's susceptible and the conditions are right — fungi thrive in weather that's warm and moist. Anyone can get tinea versicolor, but it's most commonly found in adolescents.
How do I treat tinea versicolor?
If the spots are small and mild, and your child isn't complaining of any discomfort, you could try treating them on your own with a shampoo that contains selenium sulfide, such as Selsun Blue. Spread a thin layer of the shampoo on all of the affected spots, extending a couple of inches beyond their borders. Leave the shampoo on for 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse it off. If you do this every night for a few weeks, the fungus should disappear. It can take months for your child's skin color to return to normal, though.
If your home remedy doesn't seem to be working, make an appointment with your child's doctor. To be sure it's tinea versicolor, she can painlessly scrape a small sample of skin from one of the discolored patches and look at it under a microscope. Assuming it is, the doctor will probably prescribe a topical antifungal medicine. At the same time, try to keep your child cool and dry so that the fungus won't grow further.
The cradle cap I used neutrogena T-Gel, is perfect, just watch your baby's eyes.
Hope I help you a little bit....dont worry

The acne is normal, should disapper within the time she turns 1 month. The cradle cap you can take care of. My daughter had it for the longest time until my mom and grandmother told me to run the cradle cap with a soft brisel brush when I give her a baby. I did that nad it's gone - after you do it make sure you put a little lotion on her head where the cradle cap was. The discoloration could be because she sucks on it too hard, my daughter did that, but it disappered a little while after taking the pacifier out. If you are concerned I would make an appointment with he pediatrition or if her 2 month visit is near wait and talk to them then.

Take the pacifier away now. Not because it discolors her mouth, but because pacifiers are not necessary for kids at all. They are tough to break kids off of when they are older. She may cry a little at first, but trust me, when she's tired, she'll sleep. Plus that's nothing compared to the fit a two year old will throw when she's hooked on those damn things and you try to take it from her. I've seen five year old kids running around with pacifiers, it's sad.
If you are concerned, tell her doctor. If she's only 8 weeks, you're probably not far from her next doctor visit.

First of all, don't feel bad for letting her have the pacifier. I don't really know what to tell you about the discoloration. I've never heard of anything like that before. Try a mild lotion on the area that's discolored and see if it helps.

It is most likely Thrush and it can be cleared up with a solution that you can get from the pediatrician. You have to swab it all over the mouth and tounge of the baby. It is basically a yeast infestion of the mouth.

Check the roof of her mouth. If it has a white film on it, it is probably thrush. This is a yeast infection of the mouth. Take her to your pediatrician. She'll need antibiotics.

do u think its possible it can be a blister from friction? I know breast fed babys get "nursing blisters" on the lips some time because of friction during suckling...my daughter had one and it was a little white patch on the ball of her top lip.
