English is the official international communication language approved by the UN.
But there are other languages around the globe, and this should'nt make you panic.
Use english only and be happy and satisfied. Everybody will understand you. If other people use other languages, they are blessed with some more culture and a broader knowledge than you, and it is not a crime to be more ignorant than others. It can be cured.

it's Sanskrit, an ancient Hindu language.
There was an attempt to create an artificial international language, called Esperanto, but it failed.
English is the international scientific language, and I suppose it is today's international language.

unlike in the U.S., most other nations start teaching their children foreign languages early on. luckily for us, it's usually English. I live in Argentina, and it was almost difficult to learn Spanish, because everyone speaks English.
