Fertility Awareness Method - highly effective form of birth control, no hormones, not invasive, doesn't disrupt sex, easy to use once learned, no side-effects, does not suppress your menstrual cycle, aids in conception, aids in assessing vaginal health, tells you if you have fertility problems, tells you exactly what is going on in your body (i.e. when you ovulate, when your period is due, when you are pregnant).

Basically only hormonal birth control will have weight gain as a side effect (as well as many others), a note is also whether or not it is actually the pill giving you the belly.
Check options from Planned Parenthood and do your research from there - http://www.plannedparenthood.org

Condoms and abstenance i'm afraid. All hormone-depending contraceptives would have a tendancy to improve weight. I received 4 stone in a year with the pill - I have now switched to the implant and locate that I have extra power and a lot less bloating... plus I dont have sessions, so dont get the menstrual cravings I used to have.

Gaining weight on the pill is fairly common. You could try switching to the single pill/combined pill depending on what your on now. Injections, implants etc are based on the same 'recipe' as the pill. So, you're other options are a coil, condoms or a cap. You should really speak to a sexual health nurse or similar because they will know what dangers and benefits there are to each different type.

I second fertility awareness or natural family planning - VERY good to use because it teaches you all about your body and is a great form of birth control - it often gets compared to the rhythm method but it is not at all as it works on scientific methods to determine exactly when you are pregnant – unfortunately a lot of doctors are ignorant and assume it is the rhythm method too…which is a REAL shame as it would save so many women so much trouble with nasty birth control methods and trying for a baby, it is great – EVERY woman should learn fertility awareness!

If you gain weight on one pill you more than likely will on any hormone contraception. Try condoms, etc. Boys like the curves anyways though, lol :)

The pill can be dangerous for women.

Coil - though this is not for everyone.
Condom is a great alternative - fun, too, if included as part of lovemaking. Also 97% safe.

IUD, condom with foam, any variation of the diaphram - in other words - any non-hormonal contraception.
All methods have a percentage of failure however, even the pill.
