Yoga is not meant to separate body and soul. Yoga and meditation are meant to keep body and soul healthy and in harmony. Meditation helps you to reach deep leavels of consciousness, where you could get to realise the Soul or God or the Cosmic Power or the Sub-conscious Power or Allah or The Almighty or Siva or whatever name you want to give that Power out there that guides and protects you.

Yoga has teh power to benefit us physically thereby affecting our mental health an din turn make us more soul conscious. such soul conciousness in higher states of practice and alleviated states of meditations makes it possible for the yogi to detach itself from its physical being and move around not only within the body but also outside of it, in its conscious form. in such a detached state the body is in a state of deep sleep, and the soul can move out and grasp what ever is near in its conscious state. such ocurrences now a days are practically nonexistent but it has been seen to happen in olden times wherein just by going into deep meditation yogis were able to describe in the minutest of details about things happening miles apart.

Actually yogis bring their soul "into" their bodies for a better connection by being in present awareness.

The only time a soul leaves the body is during sleeptime or when extreme physical pain is about to occur (e.g. a car accident). Of course when it leaves the body for good, the body dies.

No,if you practise yoga,you will feel that your spirit is out of your body.Then,you can see your body.You can go far from your body and visit other places,and people.But your spirit is connecting with your body for the silver cord. In yoga books,they called astral body.Good question.
