For me, this question is not clear. I mean, what about them do you want to know?

Tourism and travel is about 11% of the world economy nowadays, and the % is rising.

Tourism is very important in some areas. Places with "comparative advantage" for tourism often have comparative disadvantages for most other economic activity such as distance from major markets. Tourists flock to historic cities with beautiful centres, cathedrals, pilgrimage shrines such as Allahabad and Mecca, sandy beaches, ski resorts, visually scenic places like south Utah and the Scottish Highlands.... whereas most other services like professions, hairdressers, insurance need big cities with lots of people. Goods manufacture needs the same plus cheap labour eg Mumbai, Shanghai. Knowledge industry needs science graduates so goes to Cambridge (UK and Massachusetts), California, etc.
