I always tried things before I gave them to my daughter and let her see me do it. You daughter may not have the urge to chew on everything yet, but seeing you try a biscuit and making a big deal over how yummy it is might peak her curiosity.

Is she on solid foods? Does she have teeth coming in? Have you or someone told her no or kaka when she goes to put something in her mouth? Its a natural instinct for babys to mouth things- what does her doctor say- anything?
If she is otherwise a healthy baby don,t stress. Or if you wanted to teach her to eat finger foods try a juice cycle .
One good thing is you have less worry about her picking up the wrong thing and putting it in her mouth and choking on it.

My 15 month old never put things in his mouth either. He was never into putting toys in his mouth or anything like that. Are you saying your daughter doesn't pick up her own food and feed herself? It might be she just isn't ready, or that she has gotten used to you feeding her. At meal times and snack times, keep introducing her to foods she can feed herself with. Let her get a little frustrated when you don't come to feed her right away. Give it some time, and she will be feeding herself.

Some babies just don't want to put everything in their mouths. That is normal for them. Please don't fall into the trap of thinking that your daughter isn't normal because she doesn't do what all the books say she should be doing. Children don't like to follow the rules, and there is no law saying that she has to. Just realise t hat your daughter is an individual who just doesn't want to put things in her mouth. When her curiosity is aroused, she be chomping on things. Just don't stress about it honey. At least you haven't got to worry about her picking things up and choking on them like my daughter did frequently...very scary!

From around six months onwards, it's normal for babies to put more or less anything they can in their mouths, and chew on things they can't put in their mouths, so this is not normal, as I guess you realise; that's not to say it's a problem, but it's definitely something to discuss with your health visitor.

Remember learning in high school health class that it is necessary to have back teeth to chew complete solid food and to digest it properly for the digestive system. When grandma gets her dentures and she had her back teeth pulled, she did not eat solid food, so the same goes for little 'uns that don't have their back teeth. You are a smart mommy. Baby should be getting plenty of protein and good veg. that are pureed and no hard solids till the 4 back teeth have come in. Have a good time with your baby. ;)

Give her time and leave it on the tray. If she throws it try again on a different day. Don't force her to take it because then she won't do it at all. Every baby is different and maybe she's not ready. Have patience and good luck!

Liquidised food at this age should be fine.
We used to blend food from our plates (potatoes, carrots, suede) and feed our children this.
Please note a lot of jar baby food and biscuits contains sugars which will give children a sweet tooth when older .
Don't panic and good luck
